Abstract
This presentation will address (1) the need to include within-language comparison groups before or at the same time that between-language LI comparisons are made; (2) the need to make sure that measures of matching make sense developmentally within the language before employing it as a between-language measure; (3) alternatives to use when measures that are reasonable for matching in some languages just don’t work for a new language to be studied.
