Abstract
In the last decade there has been substantial progress in the measurement of language impairments in children, across a broad empirical and theoretical front. Inherent in the progress is the outline of new expectations for measurement standards for the identification of children with language impairments, for description of language competencies across a wide range of language dimensions and language processes, and for evaluation of language-related cognitive processing abilities. This presentation highlights some key elements of the emerging expectations and implications for research standards.
